8th Grade ELA
I am a graduate of our very own LCM High School, and earned my Associates degree from Lamar State College Orange in 2012, attended the University of Texas at El Paso, and obtained my Bachelor’s degree from Lamar University in Beaumont in 2015.
I obtained a Bachelor’s degree in English in December of 2015, and also hold certifications in ESL, English Language Arts and Reading 7-12, and as a Generalist 4-8 teacher.
I started my teaching career at MMS as a student teacher, and took over as a long term substitute teacher in the Spring semester of 2016. This is my fifth year to teach at MMS, and my second year to teach 8th grade ELA. I look forward to all of the learning opportunities this school year brings!
Other than 8th Grade ELA, I have also taught 6th grade science, 8th Grade U.S. History, and 7th Grade Writing and Reading.
My husband and I were married in August of 2012 and have one adorable little boy named Levi who also loves being a part of Mauriceville schools! We are lucky to be a part of such a wonderful community.
We have two horses and two dogs, a spoiled terrier named Daisy and an adopted and very loved collie mix named Aussie.
I have a deep love for reading, writing and learning in general. I consider myself to be a lifelong learner, because I enjoy not only teaching in the classroom but going to workshops and seminars to learn new information or a different way to think about a topic.
When I am not teaching I enjoy a variety of things. Among them include time spent with my family, solving puzzles, making t-shirts on my Cricut, reading a variety of literature (you’re never too young to revisit your childhood favorites, especially when raising a child of your own!), riding my horses and in general trying to find creative activities to do. I particularly enjoy fall type weather and activities, although winter runs a close second.
